Woody Beckner's Bio:

"Man, every time I hear you it's kinda different. You can't leave well enough alone..." (a fan)

I knew I was on the right path, until the next turn.

Woody Beckner began studying the guitar in college, inspired by rock and blues players. After being introduced to Wes Montgomery, he began working in earnest and moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music.

Back in Virginia Beach, Beckner pursued a performing career, playing with then locals Steven Wilson and Billy Drummond. Over the years he has honed his craft with a group of talented players and teaches Jazz Guitar at the College of William & Mary and Jazz Improvisation at Christopher Newport University. Beckner's newest CD project "A Beat Here, A Bar There," is a live disc recorded at a Christopher Newport Faculty concert. It is his third recording, following an original outing, Woody Beckner / Jeff Smith "At First Glance," and a disc of vocal jazz standards, Laura Martier/Woody Beckner.
